To apply for an Australian 12 month tourist visa you must provide the following information:*

  1. Passport details.
  2. Contact details.
  3. Details of any friends, family or contacts in Australia.
  4. Details of any medical conditions or criminal convictions.
  5. Means of payment.

* You will also be asked for details of employment status, reason for travel and dates you wish to travel to Australia.


You can apply online, over the phone or download an application form. Once your application has been lodged, you pay a non refundable governement fee.


To be granted a twelve month tourist visa you must:

  • Satisfy the department that you genuinely intend to visit Australia for tourism or to visit family and friends.
  • Show you have enough funds to support your stay in Australia.
  • Meet health and character requirements.
