Once approved, your ETA tourist visa will be electronically tagged to your passport. A confirmation will be sent to you once the visa has been issued, this will usually be within 24 hours. This is for your own referrence, you should not need to show it to your airline.

A random selection of applications are scrutinized, this can delay the process by 24 hours.

The Australian tourist visa is linked to your passport and therefore the details on the application must be entered exactly as they are shown on your passport.


If you obtain a new passport then you will need to obtain a new visa.


Everyone who wishes to travel to Australia requires their own visa, this includes young children travelling with parents.

When entering Australia using the tourist ETA visa, the applicant may be requested to provide evidence of an outbound ticket for leaving Australia within 90 days of the entry date. Otherwise this could result in entry being refused.

The ETA tourist visa will permit multiple entry to Australia within the 12 month period from the date of issue.

If you decide you would like to stay longer in Australia, you cannot simply extend your tourist visa, you will need to apply for a new one. In order to apply for and be granted another visa you must have complied with the conditions of your ETA. You will also need to meet all criteria for the visa for which you are applying.
